Water Street gallery is situated in the heart of Todmorden, in sight of the classic town hall. and within reach of many independent shops and cafes, well served by public transport. Recognised as one of the leading contemporary art galleries in the Calderdale they aim to exhibit a rich variety of artistic talent both local and further afield.
Owned and directed Mike and Rosemary Holcroft, who met in the 70’s at the Royal College of Art, London, they have continuously pursued successful careers as practicing artists and sustained wide experience as curators. Establishment of a warm atmosphere for visitors puts all at ease to become involved in the joy of looking at art, whether collector, art lover or browser.
The gallery itself was established in 2010 building up a rich and diverse stable of highly acclaimed artists and makers, demonstrating their acumen for encouraging up and coming artists and art forms. Planning informative and entertaining exhibition programs is integral to their commitment to the arts, alongside establishing crafts and an extensive gift shop.
Their continued passion for art serves a wide audience of patrons and artists, both local to Calderdale and throughout Northern England and beyond.
