Product description
I use a multi-fired ceramic process. The surface textures and colours are layered much like painting with many marks and colours almost lost within the working of the fired surfaces. The surface decorations and designs are mostly intuitive as are the shapes and forms that develop through the use of a very plastic clay body. I work on 3 pieces at the same time and fire them in a small electric kiln.
Background Information about John Cook Ceramics
The Fragments range of ceramics consists of both pots and tiles. I have been working for some time on the idea of gathering memories in the form of photographs paintings drawings and objects from my travels. These ideas have been incorporated into my tiles. They help form my memories a diary if you like. The multi-fired gazed tiles also incorporate ceramic decals made from drawings and photographs and are framed without glass in 3D frames.
