Background Information about Tony Carlton

I am an award-winning artist from Calderdale, West Yorkshire, with a lifelong passion for art. From an early age, I was rarely seen without a pencil in hand, constantly drawing and creating. This early love of art led me to pursue formal training, beginning with a Foundation in Art and Design at Calderdale College, followed by a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the University of Wolverhampton, where I discovered a deep interest in printmaking.

My passion for the medium took me to London, where I completed a Master’s degree in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts. I then spent nearly two decades working at the Wallace Collection, one of London’s most prestigious museums, surrounded daily by some of the finest artworks and decorative objects in the world.

Now based back in my hometown of Todmorden, I’ve returned to focus fully on my own creative practice—continuing to explore and develop my work in painting and printmaking.
