Product description
One of the ‘Whatever Vases’ to add cuttings from the garden into the holes so they become part of the narrative. The vase tells a story of the transforming identity with free-hand carved and inlaid figures, coloured with underglaze.
The narrative of the vase shows a continuous transformation of movements and shapes as a representation of the dynamic interactions between humans and nature, and the transformation of female identity. The beast shows its hollow body carrying deserts. It is another piece inspired by Decameron, referencing the classical narrative of men sending hounds chasing the maidens in the wood. My narrative makes the ‘hound’ chasing the empty ‘shell’ of a women. The emptiness of her ‘identity’ invites you to fill you own imagination to define her in the ‘chase’, while ‘providing habitats for tadpoles and frogs’.
