Product description
Abstracted forms follow on from 'All At Sea' work.
Josephine is intrigued by the alchemical and often unpredictable nature of the felting process. She enjoys working with rich colours, transforming and manipulating a myriad of textural wool and plant fibres and incorporating fabrics into felted relief and sculptural pieces.
Imagined, expressive abstracted worlds, some filled with light, others more reflective. Sources of inspiration include the vast wild seas. Sometimes she embeds discarded detritus or found organic matter into the work connected to a place or moment in time within the layered surface.
Tray framed or behind invisible glass, which enhances the textures and vibrancy of the mediums
Background Information about Josephine Gornall
Freelance fibre artist specialising in the ancient art of felt making by manipulation and transformation of dyed wools with a variety of silk, mohair and synthetic fibres embedding muslin and chiffon fabrics. She designs contemporary wall hangings and freestanding sculptural works exploring a rich palette of colours vivid, complimentary and contrasting purples, pinks, turquoises, blues, oranges.
Her current inspiration; organic flowing forms with felted relief work juxtaposing them with discarded electronic parts, some of which are beautiful in isolation within the layered, textural surface. Using a medium that is natural and sustainable combined with the excessive detritus of current society.
