Solo exhibition of paintings by Todmorden artist Barry Cook at Water Street Gallery. Runs Sunday 23 March - Sunday 27 April.
Vibrant, amusing, atmospheric and sometimes disturbing, these colourful works inspired by composer Mussorgsky's well known thematic music. Over 50 paintings and 3D works, plenty to enjoy throughout the gallery.
Barry is a contemporary artist living in Todmorden, West Yorkshire for the past 40 years where he has his studio. Over 300 of his works are currently in many collections throughout the UK and abroad.
Using watercolours, inks, gouache and pencil, Barry produces bright, imaginative, theatrical contemporary paintings, inspired by nature, music, folklore and stories. He uses a variety of symbols and animal images to represent characters and ideas in his paintings.
Barry also produces photography, and 3D works in clay. many new works included in this exhibition.
