Nicola Davis is and experienced embroiderer, convering a wide range of textile art.  she enjoys stitching that blends mathematics and symmetry with unexpected twists of colour.  She believes embroidery is a unique medium through which to explore ancient traditions while expressing a modern experience of the word

  By breaking the symmetry of the perfect sphere with the application of divisions and embroidery, I explore a kaleidoscope-like paradox, with new architectures of proportion and balance borne of deconstructed uniformity. In responding to 'Forbidden Fruit', I use temari to draw together reflections of nature and order, disruption and reestablishment, to explore the idea of an emerging harmony from a shattering of forms driven by the fervour of life and human curiosity.
