Amanda Lavery
I live and work in Lancashire where I have lectured in art and design for twenty years, while concurrently developing my professional art practice.
The process of making is of equal importance as completing fully resolved outcomes and is essential for understanding and supporting my young students as well as continuing to develop as a contemporary visual artist. I enjoy working on a few projects at a time including sketchbook work, this enables me to dip in and out of ideas and make work in short bursts, a skill I’ve developed over the years while teaching full time. Although I trained as a painter, I also explore stitch, ceramics and printmaking, all of which may result in finished pieces for exhibit but also inform and inspire ideas for painting.
