POSTCARD ART
This is our third exhibition, proving really popular for variety, affordability and opportunities for new and emerging artists, as well as a change of focus for all artists.
A long held fascination for the Postcard, as collectable vintage souvenir and former messaging network, it has been now been adopted as an accepted art form.
Colourful collage, watercolours, encaustic (wax) landscapes, marquetry, seascapes with beach huts, stereoscopy (with special glasses), stitched and reworked vintage cards, traditional still life, botanical, abstractions.
All works are framed, while one or two are free standing.
SEEDS OF CHANGE OPEN WINTER EXHIBITION
We are full positive anticipation for this years Winter Open exhibition is ‘Seeds of Change’.
Really pleased he responses from artists and makers looking at both the self evident and often striking (and challenging) broader aspects of the theme Seeds / Change.
Embracing as it does many so many issues personal, environment, climate, botanical and nature, healing & hope, growth, political and social. Situated as we are in the once, still changing ‘Industrial North’ definitely inspires a wide variety of visual artistic comment.
A warm welcome to new artists from all over UK, and am sure you will enjoy being alongside our regular gallery team of artists.
Follow the creative spirit of Mike Holcroft in this mini retrospective show - Part 1. Spanning two decades ‘Breaking Boundaries’ references two polar opposites, from cerebral, intensely observed figurative paintings - still life, portraits - to full on abstract action painting aimed at sidestepping conscious control, demonstrating Mike’s exploration of the wonderful melting pot of a rich artistic life.
