Hand built earthenware ceramics Lives and works in Sheffield |
Some of my pieces are autobiographical; others are informed through my day-to-day observations of life, each piece tells a story. My passion comes from enjoying the medium of clay and the many processes and journeys and twists and turns it takes to get from start to finish.
My heart has always been in the depiction of the female figure but more recently I have been exploring the possibilities of British woodland animals. So now I am working at a different level and enjoying the challenge of capturing the idea of a fox, or a resting deer. I build the animals in the same way as the figures, exploring surface and pattern before construction, but as is the lure of ceramics, at each corner I come across another technique I want to explore further……. and so the world keeps turning and spinning and I keep on being inspired by the wonders of clay!
I teach all ages and abilities from nursery to the elderly, adult ed and special needs. I strongly believe in giving people the opportunity to access art in all its forms.
The benefits of engaging with the visual arts are immeasurable and so very valuable.
