Rebecca Killen
Rebecca Killen is a ceramic designer/maker based in Northern Ireland. She makes unique products using fine bone china, cobalt and hints of gold lustre, creating beautiful statement pieces for the home. The work, inspired by traditional blue and white patterns, is simple and contemporary in form and decorated using a variety of printing methods.
Rebecca uses the industrial process of slip casting which gives her complete control and influence at each part of the making practice. Plaster moulds are used to cast the liquid bone china before firing. She then applies the individual designs to her work using hand painted designs, ceramic transfers and lustres
She is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, is based at the Southern Regional College, Newry through Craft NI’s flagship programme Making It. It is here where the pieces are born, from inception to completion.
