Elizabeth White
Elizabeth lives and works in Lancashire.
The temperate climate of the Northern landscape lends itself to many atmospheric moods of both depth and subtlety, a phenomena skillfully translated into fine paintings throughout Elizabeth’s works. ‘Without atmosphere a painting is nothing’ Rembrandt. Often a landmark is brought into focus - a stone wall, upland lake, swathes of heather, pathways, Stoodley Pike an other features.
The experience of walking locations such as on the tops of Todmorden Moor in very early morning she translates to her chosen cork or canvas surface painting acid lemon yellow skies and contrasting burnt umber landscape. Frequently Elizabeth allows the warmth and rough texture of cork to resonate through flecks and blushes of freely applied paint.
