These hand-stitched samplers are made entirely of recycled textiles. They are in celebration of the divine feminine in an open-ended way. As a poet, I am interested in the ways in which image and text interact. I often wonder how does the image emerge? Hand sewing brings about a rhythm of its own in the making of this work. It is often meditative and this allows for a deeper connection to take place with that which wishes to be seen. Dream life, the quotidian and memory interact here. During the making of these samplers I documented the creative process. A hybrid memoir, HUDSON, has emerged from this.

Wendy Rose Heath has an MA in Creative Writing from Newcastle University and is a recipient of a Northern Writer’s Award from New Writing North. She studied painting, drawing and textile at Massachusetts College of Art. She has worked in animation, fashion and has painted all her life.
