Richard Gibbon
I was educated at he High School of Art in Manchester and, after sixth form, at Camberwell College of Art in London. I then continued on to Teacher Training, where I specialized in Art. My work is drawn from the surrounding Pennine landscape and is created from sketches made whilst out walking locally.
I use a variety of watercolour-based media, with gouache, pencil and ink being added as the work evolves. The subjects are composite in nature, being often an amalgam of sketches, motifs and locations. The completed works use a strong design, often a palette of earth colours, tonal contrast and cool Pennine light.
